Five “fast food” restaurants that aren’t that bad for you

It’s Tuesday afternoon. You’re getting your kids home from school and you’re so exhausted that you don’t feel like cooking. But, you JUST went out the other day and you’re tired of eating unhealthy fast food..

Typically, fast food is cheap and easily accessible. However, we usually associate cheap with unhealthy. Although that is true in most cases; there are some major fast food restaurants that are actually not that bad for you. (Depending what you order)

Here are a few fast food options that can be healthier choices:


1. Subway

Known for: Primarily known for their sub sandwiches and salads. Subway has locations all over the world and is growing fast. It is the largest restaurant operator in the world.

Healthiest products: Veggie Delight(230 calories), Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki(269 calories), Oven Roast Chicken(320 calories), Subway Club(310 calories), and many more.


2. Wendy’s

Known for: Served worldwide, Wendy’s specializes in Hamburgers, chicken sandwiches and Frosty’s. Wendy’s is the third largest fast food restaurant chain.

Healthiest products: Grilled Chicken Sandwich(390 calories), Jr. Cheeseburger(280 calories), Grilled Chicken Wrap(260 calories),  Large Chili(270 calories), and all of their salads.



3. Panera Bread

Known for: Panera is a bakery-cafe located in the United States and Canada. They are known for making food taste homemade and healthy. This most popular items are their soups and salads.

Healthiest products: Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken(450 calories), Black Bean Soup(140 calories), Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich(440 calories), Turkey Chili(170 calories) and much more.


4. Chipotle Mexican Grill

Known for: Primarily known for their tacos and burritos, Chipotle is located all around the world. Located in the United States, UK, Canada, Germany and France. Chipotle allows you to create your own tacos, burritos and salads. When you decide what to put in them you can choose to add healthy products.

Healthiest products: Corn tortillas instead of flower, steak, beans, brown rice instead of white, fajita vegetables, lettuce, guacamole, and queso. If you’re looking to order from the menu, try: The Lighter Bite(325 calories), Vegetarian Burrito Bowl(860 calories), Barbacoa Burrito Bowl(880 calories), and the Chicken Salad Bowl(510 calories).


5. Chick-fil-A

Known for: Chick-fil-A specializes in Chicken Sandwiches, and is primarily located in the United States. They are closed on Sunday’s for religious beliefs as well as, Thanksgiving and Christmas. They provide catering options and are dedicated to creating a positive customer experience.

Healthiest products: Egg White Grill(300 calories), Grilled Nuggets(210 calories), Grilled Chicken Sandwich(440 calories), and the Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap(350 calories).



The United States has been improving their fast food restaurant chains over the past few years. Almost all of them have included healthier options to their menus and have been including healthier ingredients from better resources. These options are great for the days you simply don’t feel like cooking but you want to stick with healthier options!
