Effective Yoga

Interested in Yoga, but not sure where to start?

In this blog I will discuss some effective yoga poses that can help you day-to-day depending on your needs.

Yoga has been proven to increase flexibility, muscle strength, tone,  and improve energy levels, cardio health, and overall athletic performance. Yoga teaches you how to balance and breathe to reduce stress, depression and anxiety. There have also been results of reducing body aches and pains.

To Relieve Anxiety:

Yoga promotes relaxation by focusing on the mind, body and soul. When you transfer your focus from anxiety to inner piece, you relieve your anxiety symptoms. Physical tension is a side effect from anxiety and yoga releases endorphins to relieve any tension found in the body. There are many poses that can help anxiety, but here a few:

To Get Energized:

When you’re feeling down or groggy, you can turn to yoga to help you get that motivation you need. Here are a few yoga poses that can get you energized:

To Manage Stress:

Yoga poses are meant to teach the body controlled breathing, meditation and relaxation. When you are stressed your body tenses up and your blood pressure rises. Similar to relieving anxiety; stress can also be managed in the poses mentioned above as well as the poses below:

To Help Back Pain:

Yoga has been clinically proven to relieve back pain. The movements in yoga have been proven to improve flexibility and the therapy used can help even the worst of pains. Yoga requires you to use muscles that help lower back issues. Below are some poses to do for back pain:

To Lose Weight:

When thinking about losing weight, most people think of exercising and having to do physical activities like running, jogging, biking, and lifting. Yoga is a different type of weight loss. Yoga poses help you burn calories, but the main way people lose weight while doing yoga is by being mindful. When we practice yoga we become more self-aware and we acknowledge what we are eating. Losing weight and becoming less stressed goes hand in hand. When we are stressed we actually can gain more weight, but when we do yoga we become mindful of what we are consuming. So it’s less of an active way to lose weight, it’s more of a self-awareness. Some poses for weight-loss include:
